Western Derby Collision

Western Derby XII had it all. A one-point Fremantle win, a massive brawl that saw four players suspended, a 42-point comeback and a collision between Phil Matera and umpire Steven Hanley.

In the last quarter Hanley was running backwards when he and Matera collided on the edge of the centre square.

Matera was stretchered off and missed the next week while Hanley continued to umpire the round 21 clash.

Steven Hanley spoke with Simon Beaumont on Afternoons.
