Shoplifting costing stores $3.27 billion
A new survey has found shoplifting is costing shops in Australia and New Zealand more than $3 billion in revenue.
The largest contributor to retail crime is customer theft which accounts for 57 percent of loss while employee theft sits in second with 22 percent of loss.
University of London Criminologist Dr Emmeline Taylor told Gareth Parker some top items being stolen include fresh meat and baby powder.
