Pill testing success – punters ditch their dodgy pills

The second pill testing trial was completed at the Groovin The Moo festival in Canberra on Sunday. All states Health Ministers were invited to observe how it worked. WA declined.

Over 200 people had their pills tested and on seven occasions pills were found to contain a dangerous substance that has been associated with over doses. These people discarded their pills in the amnesty bins.

Oliver Peterson spoke to the President of Harm Reduction Australia Gino Vumbaca about the results of the trial.

“I spoke to a lot of the people after they finished the process and the most common response was that they’d learnt from spending 15 minutes with us than they had in many years.”
