A new weight loss app targets children

Oliver Peterson

WW, formally Weight Watchers launched a new weight loss app last week, Kurbo,  and it has experts horrified. The app is targeted at children aged 8 – 17 to help them reach a healthier weight. Health experts fear the app could lead to eating disorders and lifelong issues with food.

Fiona Kane, Nutritionist at Informed Health spoke with Oly “What it is doing is it’s asking children to track their weight and food. The problem with that is what we’re doing is teaching children that there’s an issue with how they look and we’re not teaching them that it’s about their health.”
