Peter Dutton has thrown his support behind Anthony Albanese’s proposal four-year terms for federal parliament.

Perth-based election analyst from The Poll Bludger William Bowe told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons, “I suppose that you could argue that there’s a perception that less reform is happening these days, I’m not sure you can blame that on the three year terms.”

“Four-year terms would give the government two years to do unpopular things, rather than front-load it all at the beginning and pull the rug from under their honeymoon in their first budget,” he said.

“I think what we need is fixed terms, I think what we would be better off having is the three years and require the government has to serve it out in full.
