Josh Kennedy “lucky” to kick 600 goals

Former Coleman Medalist, Josh Kennedy, reached a massive milestone at the weekend kicking a bag of goals in the West Coast win, including his 600th career goal.

Kennedy finished the game with seven majors taking his total tally to 601 games, but it was only a few weeks ago he was reading an opinion that he should retire.

“I was lucky enough to get on the end of a few,” Kennedy told 6PR Breakfast.

“Over these last 14 years of playing sometimes you’re just lucky and it just falls in your lap and sometimes it doesn’t.”

West Coast’s win over North Melbourne pushed them to second spot on the AFL ladder and Kennedy says that’s the aim.

“We’ve won enough games now to qualify for finals, which is fantastic, but for us we just want to finish as high as we can, so these next four games are going to be really important and we’ve got some good side we’ve come up against so it’s going to be a massive challenge for us and obviously to finish as high as we can is our aim leading to this back end of the year,” he says.
