Multimillion-dollar investment will curb illicit tobacco trade, says minister
The federal government is investing $5.5 million to crack down on the illicit tobacco trade in Western Australia.

Data from the Tobacco Commissioner indicates that 50 to 60 per cent of tobacco products consumed in Australia are illegal, but Assistant Minister for Citizenship, Customs and Multicultural Affairs Julian Hill told 6PR Mornings host Chrissy Morrissy he is confident the funding will help curb the issue.
“The Australian Government, working with the states and territories, is not going to surrender our nation’s health policy to organised crime. We’ve got to change the equation,” he said.
