Why foxes are running rampant across Perth metro areas

New research published today reveals foxes kill about 300 million native mammals, birds and reptiles each year.
They can be found across 80 per cent of mainland Australia, and sightings across metropolitan Perth are also common.
Postdoctoral Research Associate at Charles Darwin University, Alyson Stobo-Wilson, said foxes were introduced to Australia in the 1800s for sports hunting.
“They like being in urban environments, they like cities, and all the food around cities,” she told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.
Several callers to the program also relayed where they had spotted foxes across Perth.
