WA’s Police Commissioner Col Blanch has acknowledged bottle shop owners in Perth are being affected by anti-social behaviour but he says having a liquor license comes with responsibility.

A store on Bennett Street in the CBD has recently lost business after the police issued temporary closure notices because of violent incidents nearby.

Commissioner Col Blanch told Gary Adshead he supports the decisions of his officers to issue 114 notices.

“Perth police have tipped out over two thousand litres of alcohol in the last two months in the CBD because people are street drinking,” Col Blanch said.

“So if those same people walk straight back into the bottle shop and buy more alcohol – 114s are our last resort.”
