The state government has set dates for the closure of the Collie and Muja coal-fired power stations in the state’s South West by 2029.

Premier McGowan made the announcement from Muja station today saying there’ll be extra investment in renewable energy and storage options and 660 million dollars in funding to help the Collie region recover from the loss of a major employer.

Oliver Peterson spoke to Steve McCartney, State Secretary from AMWU WA to discuss what this will mean for WA’s renewable energy sector moving forward.
