There’s been a nearly 40 percent jump in daily COVID-19 cases for Western Australia, with 17,033 cases recorded in the past 24 hours.

There are three historical deaths, dating back to Friday.

Hospitalisations have dropped by 11 to 275, and 7 people with the virus are in the ICU.

Premier Mark McGowan says the health sector is still experiencing staffing pressures but elective surgeries won’t be paused at this stage.

“We will continue to monitor the situation as it develops,” he said.

“People staying home if you’re a nurse or doctor with COVID, isa. god thing to do, but what we need to do is manage the hospitals in accordance with the number of people who are off work because they are sick.”
