WA potato industry deregulation imminent

Article image for WA potato industry deregulation imminent

Perth’s Potato King says he’s happy the state’s Potato Marketing Corporation will be scrapped.

The State Government says the corporation will be scrapped from June 30, after hinting it wouldn’t happen until after next year’s election.

Spudshed owner Tony Galati has told Gary Adshead on the 6PR Morning Program, that 99 per cent of potato growers in WA would welcome the decision.

But the body representing WA’s potato growers has lashed out at the Government’s handling of industry deregulation.

Chief Executive Officer Simon Moltoni has told Gary Adshead, he’s disappointed with how the industry was informed.
