A report into the deadly Yarloop bushfire has made 17 recommendations for strategic change to the way WA’s fire authority operates.

The Euan Ferguson report was tabled in State Parliament today and offers makes specific findings in relation to the cause of the fire, why the water failed in Yarloop, why specific warnings were not issued, and why additional resources were not sent to Yarloop.

The 13 week independent inquiry carried out by the former Victorian fire chief has called for fundamental change to rural fire management, but does not apportion blame or find any evidence of individual negligence.

Premier Colin Barnett has told State Parliament the report contains bold findings.
