The use of vapes is causing dental and jaw damage among young individuals, resembling the effects of illicit drugs like cocaine and methamphetamine.

Oral medicine specialist and ADA spokesperson Associate Professor Sue-Ching Yeoh joined Julie-anne Sprague to discuss the implications vaping has on dental health.

“So the issue with vaping is that it does expose your mouth to a lot of chemicals, I think a lot of people aren’t actually aware of that, they don’t actually know what is in the vape and what happens when that vape liquid is heated and exposes the mouth to all sorts of things,” Professor Yeoh said.

“No matter how much you are vaping, if you are doing it, you are at risk at developing all these problems.”
