The WA Prison Officers’ Union has expressed concerns about ‘chronic staff shortages’ at Casuarina Prison.

The statement come after a man was seriously assaulted in the southern suburbs prison earlier this week, while was on remand.

The prisoner was beaten and repeatedly stabbed by an inmate with a ‘broken broom handle’ on Monday.

Gary Adshead spoke to Union Secretary John Welch and WA Corrective Services Commissioner James McMahon on 6PR Mornings.
