TikTok under fire for ‘insidious’ data collection processes

Social media platform TikTok is being criticised for unethical data collection processes and inappropriate content.

Experts are concerned users are at risk of having their data accessed without consent as Chinese law allows the government to access the collected data.

Shadow Communications Minister Sarah Henderson told 6PR Perth Live the government needs to focus on online safety. 

“TikTok should not be allowed to collect this data,” said Shadow Minister Henderson.

“We’re deeply concerned about some of the insidious data collection practices
