The rise of catfishing in social media is merely one among several emerging trends within WA schools, highlighting the increasing reliance on technology within classroom environments.

Social Media Expert at Dark Horse Agency Nicole Jameson joined Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons to discuss how her son’s experience of being impersonated online by a fellow student.

“In the boy’s defence, I don’t think he was trying to be insidious. I think that he thought it was funny, and that is the problem with a lot of kids,” Ms Jameson said.

“Social media is forever, especially with Snapchat or the story-based apps social media apps. Kids think these are temporary and they go away, we have to remind kids that we are living in an age of screenshots or screen recordings.”
