‘The players are really distraught’: Glory players face Christmas in QLD quarantine after positive case

Perth Glory’s clash against Brisbane Roar, scheduled for Saturday night, is in serious doubt after a player tested positive to COVID-19.
They also face the prospect of not being allowed to leave the state for 14 days if it’s found to have spread throughout the playing group.
Glory were informed late last night that a player in the squad had tested positive, and now the whole team must be retested.
It’s not known who the positive player is.
The roommate of the player will also be ruled out, having been classified as a close contact.
CEO of Perth Glory Tony Sage said the players are “distraught”.
“We believe, under their rules in Queensland, they might not be able to leave the state for 14 days,” he said on 6PR Mornings.
“Now whether that’s only two players or the squad.
“So you can imagine the upheaval within the playing group, considering what we’ve done for the league keeping it going by being away for so long.
“The players are really distraught, they don’t know what’s going on, they won’t know until the end of today … what their fate is.”
