Telstra and Optus have delayed the shutdown of their 3G mobile networks because some customers are not ready for the change.

Telstra’s Network and Infrastructure Engineering executive director Channa Seneviratne told 6PR Afternoons host Julie-Anne Sprague the company didn’t want to leave any Australians “behind”.

“We’re still hearing from some of our customers that they need a little bit more time – this is a joint thing (shutdown) between ourselves and Optus so we decided to extend it by two months,” Mr Seneviratne said.
