WA teachers could start industrial action as soon as next week, as the union further pushes for a 12 per cent salary increase.

Term One is due to begin for teachers on Monday, with students returning on Wednesday… but that could be disrupted if an offer isn’t tabled by today.

State School Teachers’ Union Senior Vice President Natalie Blewitt told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings the government needs to step up.

“We’ve heard from members that they’re buying frozen vegetables because they can’t afford fresh vegetables… that’s simply not acceptable,” Ms Blewitt said.
