Surgeons faster, more accurate when listening to AC/DC
Research from Germany has found that surgeons who listened to AC/DC were more efficient in operating theatres.
The trials out of Heidelberg University found the time surgeons took to make a precision cut were 50 per cent faster but only if the music was played softly in the background.
Cardiologist Dr Ross Walker, a Mozart fan, said about two thirds of operating surgeons will play music in the theatre.
“[The study] suggests it eases stress, relaxes their muscles, combats anxiety and possibly lowers the blood pressure,” Dr Walker told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.
“This work about music has been done for a long time … there’s a lot of value of having music around. I certainly play it in my clinic as well when I’m seeing patients.”
