Betting companies scramble to save face before looming advertising bans

Sports betting companies have reached out to the Federal Government and offered to remove logos from football club match day jerseys, as pressure continues to mount over the ubiquity of betting ads.

Federal Communications Minister Michelle Rowland is gearing up to announce all-encompassing changes to competition and advertising laws, specifically targeted at the $50 billion-a-year industry.

Alliance for Gambling Reform Chief Advocate Tim Costello told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons he is not surprised by the olive branch being put forward by betting companies.
