Simpson: Standards slip caused draw

Adam Simpson says the West Coast Eagles let their standards slip on the glitter strip in their draw against the Gold Coast Sun.

The Eagles had won six straight before taking on the 17th-placed Suns at Metricon Stadium.

It took Tom Lynch to kick a goal with the final kick of the match to produce the first draw of the season, excluding Geelong and Adelaide’s abandoned match.

‘We’re really disappointed in the result,’ Simpson said.

‘The result normally takes care of itself, doesn’t it.

‘We did a lot of things well, but not as well as we’ve been doing them in the last ten weeks or so.

‘We think good teams find a way and we didn’t on the weekend.’
