WA’s Daniel Ricciardo has won his first ever Formula One race, with victory in the Canadian Grand Prix at Montreal.

He started from sixth on the grid and managed to move from third to second with four laps remaining, before overtaking leader Nico Rosberg with just two laps to go.

The 24-year-old won under safety car conditions ahead of Rosberg and Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel.

His father Joe spoke to Steve Mills and Basil Zempilas about the win.
