Restrictions to stay ‘for months’ as WA records 258 local COVID-19 cases

Western Australia has recorded 263 new cases of COVID-19 overnight, with 258 local and five related to travellers.
Premier Mark McGowan announced the new numbers on Tuesday and said there were now 1315 active cases in the state, with three people in hospital but none in intensive care.
Four cases have also been recorded in the remote Aboriginal community Jameson in the Goldfields.
Nearly 99 per cent of the state’s population has now received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with second-dose rates climbing to 95.7 per cent and third doses sitting at 58.3 per cent.
The Premier said there would be some ongoing restrictions for months to come.
“I’m pretty keen to avoid level 2 restrictions if we possibly can,” he said.
