Push for government to ‘urgently’ amend criminal property confiscation laws

There are new calls for the State Government to rewrite the State’s Criminal Property Confiscation Act laws after a major report from 2019 ago reprimanded the act.
The government has still not acted on the recommendations and Perth barristers are pushing for the government to make the changes.
Nigams Legal director Shash Nigam told Jo McManus on 6PR Afternoons the laws need to be changed immediately.
“It’s got to be one of the most urgent tasks of this government,” said Mr Nigam.
“We need to fix it… start from scratch.”
