WorkSafe looks to deal with violence in hospitals

We hear time and time again about the increasing violence in our hospitals. The Health Department is currently looking at drastic measures to deal with issue, including airport-style security gates. AMA WA Emergency Spokesperson Dr David Mountain told Perth LIVE yesterday that he didn’t believe WorkSafe had been engaged on the issue.

WorkSafe Director Sally North told Karl O’Callaghan there is a place for WorkSafe in these cases of violence against hospital workers.

“Occupational violence is considered a work place hazard. The safety and health act and regulations do apply.”
