West Australians urged to reveal dodgy local government conduct

Member for the East Metropolitan Region Charles Smith has put out an open call for West Australians to provide their stories to the Select Committee into Local Government.

The Committee was established earlier in the year to examine, among other things, the function, scope, and role of local government in WA and how it’s working and not working.

Mr Smith, who is on the committee, told Oliver Peterson that he believes many people are unhappy with their local council and it’s essential they make a contribution so the committee can make the best decisions.

Submissions to the Committee are open until midnight 23 August 2019, with a report expected within 12 months.
