James McMahon says he’s humbled to be named the West Australian of the Year.

The former Commander of the SAS is now an ambassador for The Fathering Project – which raises awareness of the impact fathers or father figures have on the lives of children.

Mr McMahon told Mornings with Gareth Parker, he was shocked to hear his name called at the awards ceremony on Friday night.
