Triple-zero call centre ‘compromised’ by criminal element

Simon Beaumont

Police have conceded the reputation of its emergency call centre has been damaged, after three people – including a call-taker for St John Ambulance – were charged with leaking official secrets.

Police will allege the information was shared with people working in the tow truck industry.

Superintendent Darren Seivwright told Gareth Parker, they take the allegations very seriously.

Nine News reporter Gary Adshead helped uncover the story, and told Gareth the tow truck industry is at the centre of the alleged criminal activity.
