UK singer, Ed Sherran made headlines over night has he switched off his Twitter account because he didn’t want the negative feedback anymore; others are switching off social media as trolling and online bullying increases over Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Leoni Smith is known as The Cyber Safety Lady and told 6PR Breakfast there are some things you can do to prevent being bullied on social media.
“If you don’t ever give opinions, your much safer,” Ms Smith told Peter Vlahos and Jane Marwick.

Checking the privacy settings on your account was another handy tip: “They’ve got a relatively new setting on Instagram where you can filter the comments that come through, so you can filter certain words,” Ms Smith said.
