Parliamentary Inquiry into Short-Stay Accommodation

Oliver Peterson

Planning Minister Rita Saffioti told Oliver Peterson today that she supports an inquiry into short stay accommodation.

She wants to see greater certainty for the tourism industry, accommodation providers and guests.

The Economics and Industry Standing Committee will report on short-term accommodation in WA, covering issues including safety, insurance, land use planning, building standards, stay length, neighbourhood amenity, registration, licensing and taxation.

Saffioti said, “if we want to have minimum regulation, how do we do it so it’s fair but also not cut off choices.”
