Kids are sick of their parents posting pics of them on social media

Oliver Peterson

“Sharenting” is the name used for parents sharing photos of their children on social media. New research out of the University of Antwerp in Belgium says that kids want their parents to ask permission before posting photos of them.

The study showed that some children were worried their parents would share embarrassing photos of them.

Social media expert Meg Coffey from Coffey and Tea told Oliver Peterson that sharing photos of kids is something that started off innocently but it’s not where we are today. She agrees that children should be asked for their permission before posting photos.

“You’re teaching your children respect and that their opinion matters. And that they have a right to whether or not that [photo] is shared.”
