A petition will be circulated at this weekend’s NRL Nines to push for a side here in WA.

Leading the charge is Perth businessman Peter Cumins. He told Oliver Peterson the success of the State of Origin game last year shows WA people have the appetite for it.

“What’s been lacking is the opportunity for p[people here in Perth to put forward a well thought out submission to the ARLC (Australian Rugby League Commission), which it would demonstrate it’s a feasible option.

“What’s different now days from the days of the Western Reds is we’ve got a fantastic venue to play at, we’ve got the support of the government, which we didn’t have before.”
