‘I fundamentally don’t accept that ministers should not be involved in final approval for projects’

The Attorney General believes under-fire Cabinet Minister Bridget McKenzie’s conduct is “not unusual”.

Senator McKenzie is facing calls to resign after approving a $36,000 grant for a shooting club, without disclosing she was a member.

The handout was part of a $100 million fund the Coalition used to defend key marginal seats at the 2019 election.

But Christian Porter has told Gareth Parker all projects were eligible for funding.
