“I can’t see Roe 8 happening in the next six years”: Motor Trades Association

Roe 8 is back on the radar. Over the weekend, Liza Harvey resurrected it at the Liberal Party conference.

Motor Trades Association CEO Stephen Moir told Oliver Peterson they weren’t consulted about the Opposition’s re-hashed planes for Roe 8. He says they can call it what they want, but a “levy” is a toll.

“We’ve never had tolls in Western Australia and I find it a little bit unreasonable that we are going to hit the commercial sector.

“Those trucks that are taking the supplies to supermarkets and retail outlets they’re going to pay a levy to get that stuff to you. But general consumers are going to be on the road of free?”
