How music therapy is changing lives in our Mid West
An initiative using individually tailored music therapy to improve the lives of dementia sufferers and their families is being hailed as a huge success.
Rotary Club of Geraldton-Greenough president, Geoff Wood, helped develop the program after seeing a documentary about music’s impact on the brain.
He told Gareth Parker, dementia sufferers use personalised headsets to listen to songs ‘from their life’, helping them to connect with family, and soothe their anxiety.
