Gippy Goat Cafe owner raises concerns about vegan activists sentencing

Gippy Goat Farm and Cafe owner John Gommans, whose livestock was stolen by a group of vegan activists in December last year, said he is appalled by the outcome of court proceedings.

Mr Gommans said it is such the leniency of the court that he wishes he “was a criminal”.

While some activists were served with a good behaviour bond for stealing and trespassing and were mandated to refund 10 per cent of the value of the stolen livestock, others were fined as little asĀ $1 for housing livestock without a property identification code or breaking biosecurity laws.

John Gommans talked to Jane on Sunday about the issue.
