Family turmoil doesn’t excuse citizenship issue

The Attorney-General says he’s empathetic to Labor MP Susan Lamb’s difficult personal circumstances, but that doesn’t mean her citizenship case shouldn’t be referred to the High Court.

Ms Lamb made a tearful address to Parliament yesterday, saying she can’t obtain a copy of her parents’ marriage certificate, because her mother abandoned her, and her father died 20 years ago.

A-G Christian Porter told Mornings with Gareth Parker, her family turmoil doesn’t dismiss the legal requirements.
