Cricket legend’s Ford GTHO Phase III sells for a record $1 million

A rare car once owned by Australian cricketer Jeff Thomson broke a record on the weekend, selling for over $1 million at an auction in Bathurst.

The Ford GTHO Phase III retailed at just over $5,000 when it debuted in 1971.

Head Auctioneer at Lloyd’s Classic Car Auctions told Chris that closing Australian car manufacturing companies upped the value of classic cars.
