Calls to raise the age of criminal responsibility to 14

The Australian Medical Association is calling for the age of criminal responsibility to be increased to 14, to relieve pressure on juvenile detention centres.
AMA President Doctor Tony Bartone says currently a 10-year-old can be charged, prosecuted, and imprisoned, but he believes that’s too young.
