All mass public gatherings ‘should be cancelled’ from Monday in a bid to slow the spread of coronavirus according to the Prime Minister.

Medical authorities have advised the Government halting events with more than 500 people is necessary to combat the outbreak.

It means major sporting events will likely have to be played in empty stadiums.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says organised, non-essential events will not go ahead from Monday. The restrictions do not include schools, universities, public transport or prison.
