Bidding war mounting for McGovern

Adelaide forward Mitch McGovern is to become a key recruitment target for the Fremantle Dockers reports Kim Hagdorn.

The 22 year old West Australian is out of contract at the end of this season, and will attract offers from both Fremantle and West Coast. Though he won’t come cheaply. He kicked 32 goals in 23 games for Adelaide last year but has been sidelined with a hamstring injury for most of this season. He remains at least six weeks away from a potential return.

Mitch McGovern’s brother Jeremy has emerged as one of the best defenders in the AFL as an Eagle.

Hagdorn also says McGovern was mentioned in trade talks last year when the Crows made a last minute bid to secure Blues midfielder Bryce Gibbs.
