Basketball, football, netball … online gaming?

WA schools are encouraging more students into competitive online gaming, known as esports. This is turning competitive video games into a sport – people watching other people play competitive multi player video games at a high level.

On today’s show Jane Marwick spoke to Dr Kate Raynes-Goldie, a non-screen focused games designer. She says there are a number of schools that have esports as an extra curricular activity but believes it’s a missed opportunity – instead of playing games she wants kids to become game designers.
