ASIC has launched an internal investigation into whether it could have done more to warn people about Sterling First Group before the scheme collapsed.

Federal Assistant Treasurer Michael Sukkar revealed the news to Gareth Parker, while conceding his gut feeling is that the system has let down those who are now facing the loss of their life savings.

Mr Sukkar assured Gareth, he is making the Sterling First case a top priority for ASIC.
