The long weekend is almost here and it’s a perfect excuse to get out and about and support Perth’s small bar scene. These cosy watering holes are in the lane ways in the city and tucked away in suburban streets.

Alby’s man on the street, Tim Milroy spoke to Oliver Peterson today to give Perth LIVE listeners a look inside our small bar scene. Despite the recent closures and negative press, Mr Milroy says the scene is still very vibrant.

“The offerings in a small bar are different to the traditional big beer barns, where it’s mass consumption in a place you go and watch the footy.

“Now it’s about the quality of the offering – the food, the beverage and the experience you have there [at small bars].”
