There will be no CrabFest for the third straight year, with the City of Mandurah pulling the pin due to uncertainty over public sentiment and the potential spread of COVID-19.

The slated March 18-19 festival is the biggest free regional event in WA but was called off because a late cancellation would take a higher toll on patrons and local businesses.

“People vote with their feet during uncertainty,” Mayor Rhys William told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.

The festival normally attracts more than 100,000 locals and visitors to Mandurah each year.
