Pat Cummins digs in with defiant final word on Justin Langer

Test captain Pat Cummins has revealed his role in Justin Langer’s departure as coach, and why he believes Australia needs to move in a different direction.
“It seems to me that Pat Cummins is quite happy to see the back of Justin Langer,” Liam Bartlett told his 6PR Morning listeners.
“It seems like he is welcoming what he is referring to as ‘a new direction’ for cricket in this country.”
Cummins released a lengthy statement before facing the media on Wednesday morning, in a bid to offer clarity around the WA coach’s departure from the national role.
In the press conference, Cummins said the feedback from himself, teammates and other staff was that a calmer, more “collaborative” approach was needed.
Cummins also said fellow fast bowler and ex-teammate Mitchell Johnson had not reached out after calling the new captain ‘gutless’ in a scathing newspaper column.
“He’s just standing up for his mates, I absolutely disagree with what he said,” Cummins told reporters.
“He’s entitled to his opinion, but yeah I can hold my head high, so I’m fine.”
Earlier, Cummins took a shot at former greats, including Ricky Ponting, Shane Warne and Adam Gilchrist, who criticised the captain and Cricket Australia’s decision.
“To all past players, I want to say this: Just as you have always stuck up for your mates, I’m sticking up for mine,” his statement read.
