WA Police Deputy Commissioner Col Blanch says the force will take an agile response to dealing with the recent spate of dangerous crime across regional towns in WA’s north.

The state’s second top cop told Gareth Parker during his regular segment on 6PR Breakfast police were aiming to get ahead of crime and return vulnerable youths to safety before recent incidents – such as juveniles ramming into police cars, police officers and police stations – occurred.

“This is unacceptable to police… we are seriously concerned someone is going to be killed,” he told Parker.

“Putting them in a cell and hoping something is going to change, that’s not going to happen either.”

He also said managing protests was part of police work, whether it be Black Lives Matter, climate change or anti-vaccination demonstrations.
