Bats have been spotted flying around Perth’s northern suburbs, causing quite the stir in the community.

One resident there posted a photo on her local community Facebook page of a bat she found in her bathtub (above) that had been in her roof space.

WA Wildlife operations director Dean Huxley told Millsy at Midday host Steve Mills bats were common in WA and it was important people knew how to deal with them, because the animals can spread disease.

“Bats are really common in Perth, particularly in the South West, and even though you don’t see them very often, they are out there and they’re about,” he said.
